Welcome: Isaiah!

POSTED IN: General, Personal

Well, if you haven’t noticed I’ve been MIA for awhile. I’ve gotten things in my life straightened out after some hard times (thanks to those who helped - you know who you are!), and two weeks ago I finally gave birth to a beautiful baby boy! Isaiah John arrived October 15th at 9:15am weighing 7lbs 13oz and measuring 20″ long. He joins his big brother Mason and big sister Winter!

Kisses!

I’m back to work, and have some really great posts drafted up that hopefully will be as useful as the 34 Insanely Useful Wordpress Plugins for Admins

And bonus? I have an exciting new project I will be launching in the next month or two that I hope everyone will enjoy! Stay tuned for that.

WordPress, Firefox or the Boogeyman Ate My Post

POSTED IN: General, Personal

I just lost a whole article that took me over 5 hours to write. I have no idea how, or why. I had saved it seven million times. When I reloaded from the drafts section, half of the article was just GONE. I want to cry.

Does Your Site’s Design Need a Facelift? - “I Need a New Design” Contest is For You!

lifeblue.jpg

Does your website still look like it was designed in the late 90s? Are you unhappy with the current design of your site? Or does it just need a simple face lift? The “I Need a New Design” contest is for you then. lifeBLUE is offering the winner of their contest a completely free redesign. All you have to do is submit your site and then have friends, family - anyone, vote your site up. The site with the most votes wins.

Currently though, the number one site is “reviewback.com” (which compared to some of the other sites isn’t THAT bad) with a lead of over 600 more votes than the second place person. I’m thinking that there may be some shady practices at work, considering this notice on the site:

We are having to deal with BOTS or Automated Scripts submitting SPAM VOTES to the contest. Over the next 24-48 hours all SPAM VOTES will be removed and your place in the contest will return to its rightful position. We will continue to work hard to maintain the integrity of the contest.

Otherwise the votes are pretty close, so take a look and throw your site into the mix if you think you’d like a new design - what could it hurt?! Hurry though voting ends August 8th!

Spotplex Vs. Digg

Spotplex is a digg-like system where your blog’s articles are ranked on the amount of views they receive (which are counted by a Spotplex provided code). Every time someone “reads” (views) your post it is counted by Spotplex propelling that article up the popularity ladder.

Spotplex: What People Read Most Today

From Spotplex:

Spotplex is the only online content aggregation service that dynamically provides an instant, impartial ranking of popular Web content. With Spotplex, Internet users are not required to change their behavior to generate content rankings. By eliminating tagging and voting, Spotplex more accurately reflects what people read most today.

Based on an algorithm-based measuring system that analyzes readers’ behavior in real time, Spotplex’s popular content rankings come from actual impressions, or “reads”. This impartial process gives every blogger a better opportunity to be heard. Spotplex also uses a relative popularity measure by which article reads are measured relative to a site’s overall traffic, rather than by volume alone. This evens the playing field so all blogs can compete equally in the Spotplex rankings, regardless of readership size or subject matter.
